A Sweet Life: Supporting Children with Diabetes in El Salvador
In partnership with the Asociación Salvadoreña de Diabéticos (ASADI) and led by Dr. Cerritos, we have worked since 2004 with Fundación Manos Del Sur to bring health, happiness, and empowerment to children with diabetes born into poverty in El Salvador.
The project, now complete, has helped raise awareness and provide vital medical education and treatment. Diabetes is one of the most underserved health concerns, with children often facing severe consequences like amputations, kidney failure, blindness, and heart failure if untreated.
By funding the purchase of insulin, medications, and medical supplies, we’ve supported both children and their families through essential education provided by ASADI.
This project has involved a compassionate team of local and international donors, volunteer doctors, educators, and the families of the children. Today, the children in the program have grown and are now taking care of their health.
